During an overlanding trip or off-road driving, you may encounter a stream that turns out to be deeper than expected, suddenly causing water to flow over your hood. A standard vehicle has its engine air intake positioned lower, which increases the risk of water entering the intake and ultimately reaching the engine, potentially leading to engine failure.

To prevent this, you can raise the air intake by installing a BRAVO snorkel. However, even if you don’t plan on extreme water crossings, a snorkel still offers several advantages. The temperature in the engine bay, where the standard air intake is located, can rise significantly, causing the engine to draw in warm air and perform less efficiently. A snorkel allows the engine to take in fresh outside air, improving performance.

Additionally, if the snorkel head is forward-facing, it creates a beneficial effect at high speeds as the incoming airflow is forced into the intake, increasing engine power. Furthermore, you can equip the snorkel with an additional cyclone filter, which, in extremely dusty conditions, removes a large portion of sand from the intake air. This helps keep your regular air filter cleaner for longer.
