The biggest advantage of a rooftop tent compared to a regular tent is that it is ready for use in no time. Depending on the type of rooftop tent, just a few simple steps are needed to unfold it. Hardshell tents, such as those from Quick Pitch, are generally the fastest to set up since they can be opened instantly. However, they typically have a smaller interior space and a higher weight, making them less suitable for smaller vehicles like the Suzuki Jimny.

Softshell tents, such as those from Eezi-Awn, usually come with a separate protective cover that needs to be unzipped and removed before unfolding the tent. This can be challenging if you have a taller vehicle and cannot easily reach all parts, in which case a hardshell tent might be more convenient. However, the advantages of a softshell tent generally include lower weight, a more compact packed size, more interior space, and more affordable pricing.
